Day 29: Done and Dusted

I am very hapy to announce that I have just hit 50K!

Ah, the rush!

But of course, the story is not over here. I have still to finish my novel (Around 60-65K) and the editing process beckons me.

But for now...celebrations!

Day 27: Almost Over, but Certainly Not the Intensity!

DAY 27: Word Count - 42,386.

My Goal- To reach 50K by the end of the weekend.

Meaning? - Just under 4K written on both Saturday and Sunday.

Equals- Yayz and Party Hats and Parades!

Like to keep it short and snappy today.

Day Twenty Five: Blog?...Is that you old friend?

I admit it, I have been once again completely neglecting my blog :S

But 'tis hard to juggle life, NaNo, Blogging and everything else at the same time!

So I offer my sincere apologies.

Although, things are going so much better than they were before. Hit 40K today and am hopefully going to catch up with the minimum that I need for the day today - 40,1667. Should be okay.

But NaNo, like it or not, is going to be over soon and...and...I just have to...accept that :(

Aww, it's been a lot of fun and I will have a hard time letting go, but the good thing is that I am 100% sure that my novel will extend to somewhere around 65-75K. So it is good news all round!

I will be patiently waiting for my CreateSpace offer to come! (A free papareback copy of your book)

So prepare for the final lap! 50K! :D

Day 15 - 19 AKA: Severe Blog Neglect Syndrome

Yes, I know and I apoligise for not updating in centuries (It feels like centuries to me!) But things have been hectic to say the least.

I have quite a few things to report:

First of all: That cosy little word blanket of 3,000 words ahead or so has now gone. I have had far too many (6 whole days!) of non-writing so far and now I am ahead by a mere 200. This weekend, the pace will be picked back up again!

In other news, I went to my first write in on Sunday! :D

It was fantabulous to meet other NaNo-ers in and around the city and I got some words done (1.5K in around 4 hours!) but it's difficult to resist chatting! So, hopefully I'll get to go to another before the month is over as I thoroughly enjoyed myself :D

Two or so more days of non-writing since my last blog update (Insert Sad Face) So I've proposed for no more! An end to this treachery!

Good News.

My plot is coming along a little slower than expected (I'm at 32K) and the main, main thing hasn't really happened yet. I cant't explain it on this, it's surprisingly difficult, but I hear you say- what the hell is your NaNo about anyway?

Here is the summary and an excerpt- enjoy!

Synopsis: Deep Six: Cerebral Tyranny

An adaptive work of the fictional novelist 'Thom E. Gemcity'

The team, dealing with their own personal dramas, are flung into the world of dangerous and addicting game that is plaguing the streets with its sheer brutality and fascination; what starts off as a curiosity, ends up as an addiction.
When the deaths of three psychotic and hallucinogenic 'players' occur in unusual and suspicious circumstances, and an internet post setting the date for a national 'gaming' day, can the team uncover this underground phenomenon before more lives are lost?

Excerpt: Deep Six: Cerebral Tyranny

He looked out onto the sight of the street unto which he called home. He seldom did this, even in his own home, the curtains always stayed shut. He awoke every day in the early hours and always precisely made it to work before the first light of dawn shone across the architectural beauty that was Washington D.C. The fine capital city of an even finer country. He returned home at dusk and as night was well on its way, and by then, there was no need for the curtains to be open. There was no light to be ‘let in’. So they remained shut. In place. Always.

As intriguing as it may sound, there was a simpler explanation. He was embarrassed. He looked out onto the neon light street, where gangs of young teenage boys were armed with weapons and sent out to fight battles that did not serve a purpose, where decent, intelligent women were stricken down by poverty and forced to roam these dangerous streets as whores. A feeling of disgust settled in on the man. There was no community here. Even while taking the short trip from the door of his block of apartments to his car parked outside, he felt a deep fear of being assaulted or attacked.

These things happened, he told himself, you just have to stay safe, maybe we’ll work on it from there, that pension of yours could probably get you some little four roomed box out there in Cancun.

This was not a home for anyone. This was a prison. Even the buildings, the stores, the mailboxes - everything was intimidating.

Woop!

This is all I can think of Blogging so far, but stay tuned if I can remember any more! (Which isn't likely - I have the memory of a frying pan!)

But enough about me, how are you?

Day 14: THE DAY OF SOOPER STUFF!!!!

What a relief!

I've overcome the two week blues!!! *cheers*

Here's how my week went.

Monday: 527 words

Tuesday: 0 words

Wednesday: 2512 words

Thursday: 0 words

Friday: 0 words

Saturday (Today) 2936 (Woo!)

I actually sat at my laptop today, just attempting to start the first sentence of my writing day. I hadn't written in so long, I had kinda forgotten how to get back into the flow of things, in a weird way. Yes, I didn't think the 2 Week blues would get me, but in the end they did.

But I guess it was mostly due to busy life and exhaustion. (As seen in the posts earlier)

Here's hoping for a good week three!

(My apple senses are tingling, this means week 3 is gonna be a good one!)

IT BETTER BE!!!

*dances around the room*

(Just had an energy drink, explains why this post is slightly more...insane than usual)

*flies out window*

Day 13: *sniff*

No writing done yet again.

Too sad to type out this blog. :(

Day 12: Exhaustion and Yet Still No Writing

Unfortunately, things have been...well, hectic.

No words done today, boo!

Although, I'm still slightly ahead of the minimal amount which is good.

May Friday 13th be declared a non-stop write fest! :D

Day 11. Frantic Writing and Remembrance

Remembrance day is upon us today. And some remembering shall certainly be done.

NaNo success today. My 2 day word drought is over, and I have successfully added over another 2K to my novel. YAYZ!! Almost at the half-way point. Can't wait!

This one is breif due to extreme fatigue and business as mentioned in the previous post, but until tommorow - Keep writing those novels, everyone! :D

Days 9 and 10. Business and Fatigue

A mere 500 or so words done on Day 9

Absolutely none done at all on Day 10...

...

:(

But!!!

Nonetheless, It is Day 11 and things are right back on track. I've had no amount of spare time these last few days and have also been falling asleep at random times like 6pm, only to be woken up by confused and slightly concerned family members.

But at least the Week 2 Drag doesn't seem to be hitting me, at least, not yet...

But I am determined to power through today (11th Nov) and get at least 2,000 words.

I'm armed with my mug of coffee and my album bought from Play.com just arrived today 'Nile- Those Whom the Gods Detest'. Yay!

I will return soon with hopefull good new and hopefully a higher word count!

Still at 20,600 at the mo'- Let's see those numbers climb!

Day Eight: Coffee and Extreme Revenge

Okay, this day couldn't have gone any better for a few reasons.

1. I just passed 20K

2. I wrote almost 5K today- which for me, is A LOT!

and 3. I just surpassed the word count of a friend who recently told me

'You Seriously think you can still beat me!?'

Heh, heh. Revenge is sweet,

And okay. Today. I rocked that keyboard.

Feeling extremly awesome today.

I just killed another character today. Although it's okay, because he was so unimportant that I didn't even bother to give him a name. Although I suppose that his death does add to the plot quite a bit, but still. I apoligise 'Man in Suit' from Chapter 4!

Bring on Day 9!

Day Seven (Even though it's day 8)

Okay, the whole day yesterday and the whole day of today will be spent chasing after a friend who seems to be taunting me with her word count - eg

Any time I get within say 1000 words of her, she'll shoot up by another 4K. :(

But nonetheless, my spirit is not lacking!

I have a mug of coffee by my side and my brain is set into writer's mode. Today, I catch up!

Oh and my word count is at 15,400 and hers just over 20K.

I think I have my work cut out for me today.

Day Six of Awesomeness!

Yes, I'm putting this picture up again because I love it so damn much and I really fits well with my day.

Three little words.

Coffee. Coffee. Coffee!

Also

Word count over 13,000! A day of celebration!

I'm really starting to get into my novel. It's consuming me! :D

Friday, 6 November 2009

Day 5 of Sadness!

I'm gonna keep this brief.

Arghh.

No writing done on this day! (Yesterday by now)

Okay, entering extreme writing zone.

~~Writing Zone~~

Day Four! Coffee and Happiness!

Sorry, I've really been neglecting my blog recently due to the intensity of NaNo.

(I'm in competition with Freaktopia and I am just 400 words ahead. A ha!)

Okay, first things first- Word Count- 10,469. I broke 10K today!

AH!

The excellence!

So basically, things are going pretty well at the moment.

So how are things going for you guys?

Monday, 2 November 2009

Day 2 and My Inner Yayz.

Okay, things are certainly ahead of schedule, Day 2 and well over 7K.

Oh and two character deaths :)

And three huge mug of xtra-strong coffee.

Woop! Bring on Day 3!

How's things going for everyone else?

And So the Insanity Begins!

Excellent stuff!

As seen below- stayed up 'till midnight writing.

Got 2012 words done in just over 3 hours. This is very slow, but it was the prologue to my novel and I wanted the first paragraph to be perfect. Yes, I know.

But more writing to be done today, hopefully I can get up to 5,000.

That will be my goal of the day.

Hope everyone is doing well!

23.00- One Hour to Go!

Just back from a freakin kick-ass Cannibal Corpse gig. Woo! (On Halloween may I add) :)

My ears are still ringing like crazy.

Oh and to add to the excitement, NaNoWriMo in just one hour!

I'm really hoping for a couple of thousand words in the time that I'm on.

Up 'till 4am. Probably.

Lots of fun. Definitely!

Snacks, coffee and brain is ready. Bring it on!

Authors at the Ready!

Just under 7 hours to go! I am filled with excitement!

Anyone know anyone in he RW doing this? I know 4 which makes this all the more exciting!

So a Happy Halloween to everyone, and a Happy NaNo-Eve too!

Hopefully I'll get a post up at 12am wishing everyone the best of luck, but I may be to engrossed. We'll see...

Anyway! Imagination commence!

There is a Bomb in my Brain!

A writing bomb, so to speak.

Teardrops on my keyboard.

As The Life and Love of a NaNoWriMo Participant was saying on her blog, NaNoWriMo officially starts in 26 hours!!!! (Nice to meet you by the way :) Hope it all goes well for ya)

Anyway, as my excitement grows and grows, so does my loss of energy from excited dancing.

Onwards and upwards noble steed!

In the mean time, here is an image for you all to enjoy.

How creepy is that little girl!?

So for another 26 hours, there will be teardrops on my keyboard from non-writing.

Anyway...

Blogger Failure

I realised today that I fail at Blogger.

Take a look at who's following me- Yep, look at number 2 on the list.

That's right. I'm following myself...

:D

Yay!

Thank You Cheebus!

Note to all NaNoers out there.

This is important, so gather round the campfire and listen in.

A HUGE HELP!!! And also pretty cool too.

I am of course speaking of the NaNo '09 Spreadsheet.

Fill in your word count, hours spent writing and a lot more and it will issue a lot of helpful info for you- Eg- Are you on track, etc.

There a quite a few, but here are two of the best: (The two that I found first and decided were the best. :D)

and

Enjoy!

And a huge thank you to the makers of both. You guys are awesome!

Hard Work Goes a Fairly Long Way

Okay, finally got the hang of this thing. I'm new, don't laugh at me!

Here is the poster and banner I've created for Deep Six.

Enjoy!

and

Okay, I've still yet to understand what a cemetery and the White House has to do with the plot at all :)

This should be interesting...

Arghh!

Anyone else being bitten by the 'desperatly want to write NOW!' bug?

It's killing me!

Why won't November just hurry up already!?

On a brighter note:

I convinced a whole 2 other people to participate this year!

*huge celebration!*

But, nonetheless, the patient waiting continues.

In that time, I like to write FanFiction, (It eases the pain of no NaNoing)

Time Schedule

Many of us out there are attempting to juggle NaNo with either school or a job.

No holidays in November!

Which can be stressful at times and make us as busy as hell. (Us being me.) And I know that when I'm sitting there working, I'd much rather be writing up the novel, which can lead me to daydream. And badness...

And then the bliss of the weekend comes...and goes. Only two days a week!

So for the other five days of the week, I've devised an ingenious schedule:

Prepare!

6.30- Probably wake up

7am- Start writing.

8am-4pm- The dreaded 'no-writing' time

6pm- Meal at the computer probably :S

8pm- Have multiple brain explosions.

And then up to exceedingly late hours writing and then falling asleep at the laptop. :)

I love sleep, though. Slight downside.

Of course, starting at 12am on November 1st is a priority!

Hot Dawg!

As you may know, NaNoWriMo now starts in 6 days and 3 hours!

So far I have:

1. Created a slightly-awesome poster and banner for my novel:

The poster can be seen on my NaNo Profile:

I am ilovesatanicmetal (I was having a bit of a random moment)

2. Got some brief notes and plot ideas, character decriptions, etc.

3. Got a summary of the novel:

An adaption of the fictional novel by 'Thom E.

I'm pretty happy with it :)

4. Getting myself hyped up for this. My excitment level is a definite 10!

Things I must do:

1. Expand on my notes.

2. Fix up my writing space (I'll post up photos of it later)

and 3. I should probably get a coffee maker for my room. It seriously has helped my write on many occaisions.

I write FanFiction and often I sit down with a coffee to write, and when I do, my head explodes with ideas. And it also tastes pretty good.

October will be a busy month too! (Even though it's almost over already)

Welcome!

Wow. An internet nerd for years and this is only my FIRST blog!

In case you couldn't fathom it out from the title of this blog, I am taking part in NaNoWriMo 2009 for the first time ever!

But what is this NahNoeRiiMoe I hear you ask.

The aim is to complete a 50,000 word novel in the month of November.

Why do it?

Because hundreds of thousands of people all around this blue marble are also doing it, and the experience that it gives you will last for the rest of your life. Also, a great feeling of accomplishment. And a free paperback proof copy of your book if you win! Sound good?

Let me tell you a little about myself first...

I am David. I am a teen in Glasgow, Scotland and I enjoy the many things that life throws at me. I also like coffee.

My NaNo novel is Deep Six: Cerebral Tyranny and is based on the work of the fictional novelist 'Thom E. Gemcity'. Any NCIS fans will understand.

I am soopah excited about this years NaNo having took part in Script Frenzy this year with Spontaneous Equilibrium and won! (c'mon, I can get some bragging rights, can't I?!)

So there you have it. For the whole of November, you can follow the life and times and adventures of a coffee-addict and the many 4am falling-asleep-at-the-computer moments that other NaNoers can relate to. :)
